Ride with Bill L.

Event date:
Sun, 09/27/2026 - 9:00am

Today we’re having lunch and / pie at one of Fort Bend County’s best “small town” diner: The world famous Jay Café”: It’s an old-fashioned diner featuring blue-plate specials, burgers, pie & other Traditional American dishes And GREATY  PIES!

We’re meeting at the Shell station at the corner of 90A and Ellis Creek Blvd.. That’s in New Territory, about a mile west of Hwy 6 and a mile east of the Grand Parkway (Hwy 99). Meet up time is 9AM with KSU at 9:30.

We’ll be heading south down to Hwy 1462 to Rosharon. Then back north to pick up County Rd. 43 over to Cow Creek Road.  We’ll hop on to County Road 23 to Hwy 36 and go north to Jay Café. We’re not planning any stops. It’s about 80 miles and we should arrive around 11:45. .

Please note that Jay Café has a GRAVEL parking lot, so bring something to put under your kickstand!!  (Personally, I recommend smashing a beer can flat and using that, but let your imagination fly!)  It’s actually not super bad, but be ready, just in case

For those who want to group ride after lunch, we’ll just go north on 36, through Needville to 2218 and end the ride at Hwy. 59. (I selected that route in order to avoid the Fort Bend County Fair traffic.). That’s a 14 mile or so ride. So make sure you register. Bring something to hydrate yourself enroute.
